Gove’s Dictum

Gove’s Dictum :’ We have had enough of experts ‘ gives rise to Catch 23 which can be set out thus :

if you can prove a proposed course of action flies in the face of all known evidence and rational analysis you are an expert and if you are an expert your arguments can be dismissed on those grounds alone as we have had enough of experts.

or put in its simpler form :

if you can prove me wrong you must be an expert ; but if you are an expert you must be wrong
